Seth Walks Events

There are many things in life to enjoy, and we are pleased that we have now managed to find a way of combining two of these. Namely walking and talking! Seth Walks is about bringing these two activities together.

To date we have found that this combination works very well, and we would like to make this opportunity available to others who would also like to be involved.

There is a diary of dates to show you when and where we will be going throughout the coming months.

There is also a collection of reports on places we have already been.

We are running a guest book, so that anyone who wants to put up their comments on their own experiences with us, will have a place to do so.

Focus
The main focus of these events is to bring together people who have an interest in discussing the meaning of life, whilst enjoying the company of others and taking part in enjoyable activities, ie having fun!

Accommodation
To date, we have found that youth hostels fulfil our needs for these events. Youth hostels are generally very welcoming and have a family/community feel to them. The rooms have single bunk beds, usually in single sex rooms. Bed linen, toilets and showers are provided. You need to bring your own towels and toiletries.

Breakfast and dinner are generally available, although in instances where the youth hostel is self catering only, we provide this ourselves. We also provide you with a packed lunch. Particular dietary requirements can be catered for. Please ensure you inform us of this with the booking information. Most hostels have a small on-site shop, but these usually only sell snack items, eg chocolate bars, crisps, etc. For further information on youth hostels, you can visit their website at www.yha.org.uk.

Travel
When you book an event with us, you are given all the information about where we will be staying so that you can make your own way there. However, if you would like to car-share, either as driver or passenger, you can let us know on the booking form, and we will help to arrange this wherever practical. Similarly, if you are travelling by public transport and you would like to be collected, please let us know and we will again try to match cars to people!

Over the weekend, travel is dependent on how many cars we have available between the group, and whether others are willing to drive to walks and attractions. These factors help decide the itinerary. You are of course free to use your own car or seek a hire car for your personal use during the time you are with us, if you so wish.

Itinerary
Generally, we meet on a Friday afternoon/evening at the place of our accommodation, and then spend the Saturday, Sunday and Monday walking. The walk on Monday is determined by the times people need to get away. The length and level of difficulty of these walks are determined by the individuals taking part. As many people who come on our events may not want to spend three days walking, we also encourage members of the groups to choose other options, for example, visiting a local town. There may therefore be more than one group participating in a number of different activities. In the evenings, we generally either stay at the youth hostel or go to a local pub. Of course, other options can also be arranged depending on the group's wants!

Cost
The cost of each event varies. This cost includes: accommodation, all meals and transport over the weekend. You need to allow for travel to and from the destination, all drinks and any extras you may like to purchase whilst with us.

Insurance
We provide no insurance. If you feel you would like to have insurance whilst away with us, make sure you purchase whatever you feel is necessary before coming away.

Anything else?
Please be aware that for those people who want to walk, we go whatever the weather, and therefore strongly recommend that you bring sensible footwear (eg walking boots), waterproofs, and a small rucksack large enough to carry your packed lunch and any spare clothing. Depending on the time of year, you may want to bring warm jumpers, sun tan lotion, after-sun lotion, etc.
